Spheros Robot Art

3rd-5th grade students had the opportunity to create art using remote-controlled robot spheres called Spheros!

This end of the year lesson began with a discussion about artificial intelligence and its relationship with art + creativity.

Students were prompted with the questions, "Is this the future of art?", "What do artists gain and lose by using technology in their artwork?", and "When using AI and tech in art, who is really creating  the artwork, the human or the technology?".

While half of the class was creating art using the Spheros, the other half was completing a NearPod activity where they got to create their own AI-generated artwork. The 2 groups of students switched halfway through the lesson so everyone got a turn at each station.

The large spheros artworks were displayed in the hallways. "Where Art and Tech Meet"!
