EVERYDAY HEROES VIDEO

Building off of the previous Cape lesson, the students put their knowledge of everyday heroes into a short movie. This project allowed the students to explore performance and storytelling as an art making method. It also let the students utilize modern technology which is not always available in the art class.

Students began by learning new vocabulary that relates to the lesson, such as: Plot, Scene, Script, and Storyboarding. Then, an example short film was shown to motivate them and allow them to brainstorm ideas of how to make a heroic movie.

Students created short comic strips from the previous lesson which would inspire the script for their video. Students focused on addressing everyday issues at school, like returning a lost item to someone, or providing emotional support to a friend in need. This video project allowed students to embody the everyday hero, and showed them first hand how random acts of kindness can improve someone's day.
