HOT DOGS +
COOL CATS

Kindergarten students learn to use warm and cool colors with watercolor paint. As the name implies, the cats are painted with cool colors while the dogs are painted with warm colors.

Students begin by learning to separate the warm and cool colors before completing a directed drawing with the teacher. Students use pencils to follow along with the teacher and complete the drawing before using a sharpie marker to go over their pencils.

These directed drawings are great for developing young students' fine motor and drawing skills.

After the drawings are completed, students use watercolor paint to color their artwork. In the Hot Dogs painting, the subject is painted with warm colors while the background is painted with cool colors.
